Forest Halsey Large, 100, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 3, 1909 and was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Virginia. He was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lucy Woods Large; his wife, Viola Lewis Large and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors are his daughter, Barbara Scyphers of Mendota; his brother, William Large of Mars Hill, NC; a granddaughter, Jo Ann Berry and husband, David of Abingdon and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 31, 2009 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Carl Riner officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Mendota. Pallbearers will be Nick Lyons, Richard Edwards, Dennis Odum, Carson Roark, Sherman Pippin and Mark Large.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday at Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon.
