Frances Tedder Duncan, 88, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Frances was born in Washington County, Va on December 8, 1923 to the late, Joseph Redman Tedder and Lula Mae Odum Tedder. She was a member of Yellow Springs Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. W. "Jack" Duncan; one sister, Oakie Tedder; one brother, Archie Tedder; and two nephews, Bill and Bob Tedder.
Survivors include two sons, Stan Duncan of Glade Spring, VA, Rick Duncan and his special friend, Diane Washburn of Blountville, TN; five grandchildren, April Duncan (Chris) Dupin, Melissa Duncan, Eric (Brandy) Duncan, Nick Duncan, and J.T. Duncan; three great grandchildren, Rayelea, Marley and Camden; one niece, Linda Tedder and one nephew, David Tedder.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Dale Myers officiating. The grandchildren and Tim Tedder, Larry Tolliver and Eddy Bailey will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Yellow Springs Church, 27365 Yellow Springs Rd., Meadowview, VA 24361. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Swank, Diane and their staff; Home Health, especially, Diane and Ashley; Tina Gross, Jennifer Plemmons and Dotsie Duncan for the compassionate care they provided to Frances during her illness.
