Freida Eileen Callahan

Freida Eileen Callahan, 72, passed away at Select Specialty Hospital, Bristol, TN on Tuesday, December 4, 2018.  She was a native of Saltville, Va., and moved to Abingdon 44 years ago. Freida was a registered nurse and worked at NHC in Bristol for 28 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Ella Henderson; her husband, John Callahan; and brothers Willie and Hugh Henderson. Freida is survived by her daughter Leisa Vestal of Abingdon; brother Glenn Henderson of Elkhart, Ind.; her beloved fur baby, Parker; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Mark Vestal officiating. Pall bearers will be selected from family and friends.  The family  will receive friends from noon until 1:45 PM at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital @ St. Jude.org; or, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
