Garnett Franklin Kestner

Chilhowie, VA – Garnett Franklin Kestner, age 75, passed on Friday, October 24, 2014, at Valley Health Care Center. Garnett was born and raised in Washington County, VA to the late George Edgar Kestner and Arvilla K. Kestner. As a young adult, Mr. Kestner and his wife moved to High Point, NC where they lived for 16 years before moving to Chilhowie where they lived for 35 years. Garnett was an employee at American Furniture Company for 25 years and was a loving husband, father, and papaw. Garnett loved gardening and growing his rhubarb and onions and always kept his yard cut. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha Pierce Kestner; one son, Lonnie Kestner of Chilhowie, VA; one daughter, Sandie Kestner Moore of Chilhowie, VA; two grandchildren, Cody Kestner and wife Jessica of Chilhowie, VA and Angel Yarborough of Chilhowie, VA; four sisters, Virginia Widner, Mattie Stewart and husband Clifford, Christine Adkins, and Nancy.
