Gary Edwin Williams, age 61, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012. Gary was recognized for his dedicated service and received numerous safety awards during his 42 years working as a conductor and brakeman for Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He was a member of Byars Cobb Memorial Methodist Church, Holston Hills Country Club, and The Corvette Club.
He was born to the late Emmett Miller Williams and Betty Jane Williams. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Dale Williams, and his twin, Jerry Calvin Williams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Jenny Hill Williams; three sisters, Sherry Landis and husband Kevin of Roanoke, VA, Cindy Morris of Roanoke, VA, and Mary Williams of Hayes, NC; cousin and close friend, Freddy White of Bristol, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary loved fishing, horseback riding, and playing golf with his wife, Jenny. They enjoyed living at the Lil' Ponderosa in Damascus with access to the Creeper Trail and the Middle Fork of the Holston River. Gary was loved by all who knew him, especially his wife, family, and many friends.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Gary's life at a future date.
