Bristol, TN Gary Wayne Hammons, age 55, passed on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in Bristol Regional Medical Center. Gary was raised and lived in Clintwood, VA before moving to Bristol in 1987. He worked as a welder, a Mercedes Benz mechanic for Knoxville Mercedes, a coal miner, and eventually became owner of his own mining equipment manufacturing company, Overdrive Mining Equipment, in Coeburn, VA. Gary had many hobbies and talents including drag racing rail cars and motorcycles, playing the drums and singing in his band, Ravin, and writing songs. He is preceded in death by his brother, Carl Gene Hammons.

Gary is survived by his parents, Carroll and Roxie Rose Hammons; brother, Mitchell Hammons and finacee Ruth of Meadowview, VA; sister, Charlotte Beavers and husband Anthony of Fancy Gap, VA; three nephews, Scotty and Terry Hammons and Dean Beavers; and two nieces, Gabrielle Edens and Kayanna Beavers.

Visitation with the family will be held 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. There will be no service following the visitation and interment will be private in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.
