Gene Allen Wright, 48, passed on Friday, February 1, 2019, in Pikeville Medical Center. Allen was a 1988 graduate of Patrick Henry High School, attended Virginia Tech, and was a graduate of Virginia Highlands Community College.
He and his wife began their adventure in Orlando, Fla., then moved around the country. Allen worked as an Agent with the Dept. of Homeland Security for several years. In 2011, they moved back to Allen’s hometown of Glade Spring, Va. where he went back to school and became a registered nurse. Allen worked as a nurse at Pikeville Medical Center until his illness.
He enjoyed baseball, golf, football, video games, reading, and planning family trips.
Allen is surived by his wife of 23 years, Sharon McLaughlin Wright; daughter, Alexandria Summer Wright of Blacksburg, Va.; parents, Bobby and Isa Crusenberry Wright of Glade Spring, Va.; sisters, Patricia Surber and husband Jeff of Bristol, Va., and Teresa Copley of Glade Spring, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
