George Allen Holbrook, age 70, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6, 2014, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Holbrook and Elizabeth Mae Davis Holbrook; and two sisters, Geneva Ward and Dorothy Thomas.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Sandra Holbrook; son, David Wilson (Teresa) Holbrook of Country Club, MO; sister, Mary Holbrook of Abingdon, VA; three brothers, Fred (Bessie) Holbrook of Meadowview, VA, Samuel (Nancy) Holbrook of Meadowview, VA, and Richard (Patricia) Holbrook of Glade Spring, VA; two-granddaughters, Hailee and Judy; and sister-in-law, Linda Colquitt of Abingdon, VA.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Lifeline Ministries Church in Meadowview, VA with Pastor Darrell Martin officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be James "Buster" Surber, David Howell, Jerry Howell, Gary Davis, Arthur Plummer, and Wayne Rector.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lifeline Ministries Church, P.O. Box 337, Meadowview, VA 24361, in Mr. Holbrook's name. Those wishing to express sympathy online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com and signing the online guest register.
