Mr. George Daniel “Bud” Russ, age 68, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 in his home.
George was born June 12, 1949 in Bristol, Va. to the late Claude Rust and the late Margaret Harrison Rust. George was a retired truck driver with over 30 years of service and farmer for the last fifteen years.. He was a United States Army veteran.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Anna Lee Hudler.
George is survived by his wife, Judy Plummer Russ; two sons, Anthony Daniel Russ and girlfriend, Tammy Rosenbaum, and George Russ and girlfriend, Samantha Keating; and step-son, Freddie Nunley all of Abingdon; one brother, Claude James Rust; sisters, Eileen Allison, Geneva Graybeal and husband, Sam, Margaret Casey, Brenda Johnson, Mary Kennedy; brother-in-law, Noah Plummer, Jr.; and five half-sisters; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Gary Harless and Rev. Ronnie Matney officiating. Pallbearers will be Anthony Russ, George Russ, Bobby Cutty, Mitchell Salyers, Timothy Powers and John Luttrell. Interment will be in Knollkreg Memorial Park with military honors conducted by Highlands Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. The family will receive friends Monday, July 17, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
