Georgie Elizabeth Vermillion, 89, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009 at her home.
Georgie was born on May 13, 1920 to the late James and Emma Talbert in Washington Co., VA. She was a long-time resident of Richlands, VA, prior to moving to Abingdon. She was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Vermillion and her son, Guy H. Vermillion.
She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Johnny (Beverly) Weddle of Abingdon, and Mrs. Larry (Joanne) Francisco of Blountville, TN; six grandchildren: Guy "Sonny" Vermillion, Jr., Cathy Montgomery, Mrs. Jimmy (Kelly) Walker, Mrs. Jackie (Karen) Lewis, Kim Lambert, and Donald Francisco; eleven great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Georgie Vermillion will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at 2:00 pm at The Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Doug Findley officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Hills Memorial Park in Bristol, TN. Pallbearers will be Jim Tolbert, Tim Tolbert, Jimmy Walker, Jackie Lewis, Tommy Montgomery, and Bruce Peters. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Bales, Warren McCray, Delegate Joseph P. Johnson, Jr., John Dellis, and Earl Canipe. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 from 6-9 pm at the funeral home.
