Gilbert Gabriel Grubb, age 91, a lifelong resident of Washington County, VA, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Grace Healthcare. He was a graduate of Greendale High School and a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Gilbert loved to hunt, fish, and garden.

He was born to the late C.W.C. Grubb and Benona Crenshaw Grubb on March 20, 1922. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Elsie Snead Grubb; five brothers, George Grubb, William H. Grubb, Andrew Grubb, Charles Wilson Grubb, and Roy C. Grubb; two sisters, Reba Virginia Grubb and Belle Grubb Logan; and great nephew, Samuel Wayne Snead, II.

He is survived by his sister, Katherine Davenport and husband Jack; brother, Ernest Elbert Grubb and wife Carolyn; brother-in-law, Irby Snead and wife Elizabeth P.; three sister-in-laws, Rosalee Grubb, Edith Atwell Grubb, and Gladys White Snead; three nieces, Linda Lahr, Georgia Nidifer, and Nancy Freeman; five nephews, David Grubb, Larry Grubb, Jeff Grubb, Mike Freeman, and Samuel W. Snead; and great niece, Meghan Snead Shaffer.

Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home with the Reverend Mark B. McFadden officiating. Interment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park where pallbearers will be David Grubb, Jeff Grubb, David Eastridge, and Mike Mitchell. Irby Snead will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 329 Whites Mill Road, Abingdon, VA 24210.
