Grace Hess Lambert, 84, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 5, 2011 at her home in Bristol, VA.
Grace was born on June 7, 1927 in McDowell County, WV. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, homemaker and a long term member of Old Regular Baptist Union Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elder John & Virgie Hess, her first husband Daniel O'Quinn, and brothers James Arthur Hess, Preston Hugh Hess and John Hess, Jr.
Leaving to mourn her is husband George Lambert; 2 Daughters, Eva Lois Owens, Bristol, TN and Vonda Gail Jacobs (Jim), Rural Retreat, VA; 3 Sons Douglas Mack O'Quinn(Marcella) Birchleaf, VA, John Rufus O'Quinn(Darlene), Rural Retreat, VA and James Monroe O'Quinn, Vansant, VA; 2 sisters, Katie M. Craig, Bristol, VA, Cora P. Justice, Birchleaf, VA and one brother Willie A. Hess, Fla.; 10 Grandchildren, Melissa, Robert, & Travis Owens, Danny & Benny Jackson, Shana & Savannah O'Quinn, Christina Taylor, Jessica & Jeremiah O'Quinn; 6 Great grandchildren, Keith Hunt, Daniel, Kayla & Hayden Owens, Heather & Kasey Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews and lots of friends. Step daughter Denise Cartwright (Chuck) and step son Kevin Lambert. 4 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren also survive.-
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 5:00 7:00 P.M. with services to follow at 7:00 P.M. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon VA with Elder Mark Justice officiating. Committal services will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethlehem Cemetery at Poplar Creek, Grundy, VA. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to meet at the cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be the grandsons, Danny & Benny Jackson, Robert & T.J. Owens, Jeremiah O'Quinn, and great grandsons, Keith Aaron Hunt and Chad Taylor.
