Grace Virginia Vencill

Grace Virginia Vencill, age 95, of Bristol, Va., passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020, at home with family.  She and her husband were farmers who raised cattle, she always put out a big garden, canned vegetables, and will be remembered for her green thumb.  Grace harbored a love of animals, raised six children, and kept an immaculate house.     

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Gene Thurston Vencill; son, Jerry Eugene Vencill; two daughters, Sonja Meadows and Dolores Benzel; and sister, Arlene Poe. Grace is survived by two sons, Bobby Vencill and wife, Pat, of Crossville, Tenn. and Steven Vencill, of Bristol, Va.; daughter, Barbara McGie, of Tampa, Fla.; brother, Russell Thompson, of New York; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Hamm; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and five great- great grandchildren.  

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Rev. Craig Wylie officiating.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
