Meadowview, VA Greg Stroup, age 43, passed on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Greg was a 1992 graduate of Patrick Henry High School. He attended Emmanuel Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver. Greg is preceded in death by his father, William Louis Stroup.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Fields Stroup of Meadowview, VA; brother, Steve Powers and wife Lora of Meadowview, VA; sister, Sara Loduca and fiance Chad Tolbert of Chilhowie, VA; nephew, Anthony Powers; niece, Stephanie Powers; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Greenfield Baptist Cemetery with Pastor Bryan Treadway officiating. Pallbearers will be Cledis Fields, Billy Fields, Anthony Powers, Chad Tolbert, Rick Widener, and Tim Manual. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Counts, Eddie McCracken, Ira Price, and Bill Neece.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to defray burial expenses. Those wishing to express sympathy online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com and signing the online guest register.
