Gussie Hicks Surber, 99, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in Valley Health Care in Chilhowie.
Mrs. Surber was born December 8, 1911 and was a daughter of the late George David and Stella Campbell Hicks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Surber; a son, William David Surber; 4 sisters and 3 brothers. She was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Darnell of Bristol, TN; brother, Mason Hicks and wife, Mary of Marion, VA; grandchildren, Steve Darnell and wife, Debbie, Donna Tallman and husband, Rick and Ruth Ann Kondylas and husband, Peter; step grandchildren, Ralph Haga and wife, Bonnie and Kendall Haga; several great grandchildren; and special friend, Mary Reynolds.
The family would also like to extend thanks to the caregivers at Valley Health Care.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 14, 2011 at Mt. Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, VA with Rev. James Gentry and Pastor Stephen Sneed officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
No visitation will be held.
