Harmon E. Pickle

Harmon E. Pickle, age 79, who had served the Lord faithfully, was called to his heavenly home Tuesday, November 15, 2011.

He was born, May 7, 1932 to the late Lee and Mary McNew Pickle. Harmon retired from the Department of Forestry after 33 years of employment. He enjoyed farming and gardening. Harmon was a member of Fletcher's Chapel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Felty Pickle and one brother, Forest Pickle.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Pickle of Abingdon; four sons, Roger Pickle and his wife, Phyllis of Abingdon, Mark Pickle of Mosheim, TN, Kirby Pickle of Meadowview, and Tim Pickle and his wife, Freda of Richmond, VA; one brother, Kermit Pickle and his wife, Peggy of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters, Revonda Bostic of Bristol, TN and Neva Childress and her husband, Bill of Abingdon; eight grandchildren, Brittany Willock, Bradley Pickle, Amanda Pickle, Monica Brase, Melissa Martin, Morgan Hudson, Doug Findley, and Blaine Findley; eight great grandchildren; his special friend, Virginia Herald; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Wellmont Hospice, Bristol Regional Medical Center and to his granddaughter, Monica Brase for the compassionate care that was provided.

The funeral for Harmon Pickle will be held at 8:00 pm, Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA with Pastor Ronald Matney officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until the time of the service.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 10:00 am at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Hunter Melvin, Kirby Pickle, Mark Pickle, Donnie Melvin, Doug Findley, Blaine Findley, Todd Brase, and Roger Pickle. Honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Dye, Bill Singleton, Glenn Litton, Lee Hatfield, William "Inky" Lasley, and Curtis Fleenor.
