Harold Greer

Mr. Harold Ulyssess Greer, age 80, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Commonwealth Assisted Living. He was a native of Smyth County, VA and had lived in the Chilhowie area for many years. He was a member of the Chilhowie Baptist Church. After his marriage to Fannie Millsap Greer, he moved to Abingdon and attended Greendale Chapel. Harold was very proud to have worked at Brunswick Corporation/General Dynamics for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Hilton Greer, Sr. and Bonnie Heldreth Greer; his first wife Allie Jane Greer, and his second wife Fannie Millsap Greer; brothers James Earl Greer and Hilton Greer, Jr.; sisters Bessie Williams and Jessie Smith. He is survived by his brother Clarence Greer and his wife Meryle of West Jefferson, NC; step-daughter Jenny Copenhaver and husband John of Abingdon; step-son Ray Millsap of Abingdon; five step-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service for Harold Ulyssess Greer will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 25, 2015 in the Chilhowie Baptist Church, Chilhowie, VA with Rev. Chuck Herrell and Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Glade Spring, VA. Men of the Church will serve as casket bearers. The family will receive friends from noon until time for the service at the church.
