Mr. Harold Mock Hilt, 82, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 at his home. He was born October 10, 1933 in Washington Co., Va. to the late Robert Stanley Hilt and Sophia Alice Mock Hilt.
Mr. Hilt was owner of Hilts Garage/Crane and Wrecker Service for over sixty years. He was a Virgina State Inspector for the garage and took great pride in his work. Mr. Hilt loved his garage and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Green Spring Presbyterian Church.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Satterfield, and two brothers, Stanley and Wilton Hilt.
Mr. Hilt is survived by his loving wife, secretary, and caregiver Winona Hilt; two daughters, Sue Riddle and husband Wayne of Richmond, Va., and Angela Williams of Florida; one son, Mark Bevins of Abingdon; son-in-law, Gary Satterfield and wife, Jean of Hayes, Va.; one sister, Frances Trent of Roanoke, Va.; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and special sister-in-law, Goldene Biggs of Atlanta, Ga.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday, August 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Jon Martin officiating. Entombment will follow in the Serenity Gardens Mausoleum in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Owens, Wayne Hayter, Matt Hudson, Claude Worrell, Albert Blevins, Gary Kennedy, Bill Snodgrass, employees of Hilts Garage/Crane and Wrecker Service and all area law enforcement officers. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142, or to Green Spring Presbyterian Church, 22007 Green Spring Church Road, Abingdon, VA 24211.
