Henrietta Sue Odum Roe

Henrietta Sue Odum Roe, 67, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at the University of Virginia Hospital. She was born on January 7, 1943 in Abingdon, daughter of the late John Henry Odum and Susie Webb Odum. Sue was a member of the first graduating class from Abingdon High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Neoma Clark and Isabella "Lizzy" Arnold; her brothers, Vasco Odum, Meredith "Mert" Odum, Harold "Preach" Odum, Henry "June" Odum, Jr., James "Jim" Odum, and Lloyd Odum; and by her brother-in-law who was like a brother, Mike Clifton.

Sue is survived by her husband of 43 years, James Roland Roe; her daughters: Ginger Wolfe and husband Ervin of Abingdon, and Amanda Statzer and husband Robert II of Glade Spring; her brothers: Sylvester "Hank" Odum and wife Eunice of Roanoke, VA, and Calvin "Cowboy" Odum and wife Barbara of Abingdon; her sisters: Marie Campbell of Abingdon, Virginia "Jenny" Clifton of Abingdon, Elizabeth "Topsy" Dixon and husband Arvin of Wake Forest, NC; three grandchildren: Austin Wolfe, Taylor Statzer, and Gracie Statzer; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Sue Roe will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Bob Neace and Pastor Rodney Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Clark, Steve Nerren, Tim Arnold, Brian Odum, Jay Clark, Jonathan Kelly, Jeremiah Eskridge, Barry Higgins, and Danny Muldoon.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 16, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. â?? 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Sue be made to the Washington County Breast Cancer Survivors Group, c/o Luedell Bailey, 19060 Woodland Hills Road, Abingdon, VA 24210.
