Henry Dean Statzer, Sr. 77, of Abingdon passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born to the late Rolse and Belle Statzer in Russell County. Henry retired as a mechanic from Roberts Tire and loved to hunt and fish. He is preceded in death by a son, Henry Dean Statzer, Jr.; four brothers, Gilbert Statzer, Frank Statzer, Cleve Statzer, and Lloyd Statzer; a sister, Gladys Ezzel.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Doris Gay Statzer; two sons, Kenneth Statzer and his wife Cindy of Glade Spring, VA, and David Statzer and his wife Allison of Meadowview, VA; one daughter, Brenda Eades and her husband Steve of Abingdon, VA; two sisters, Shirley Salyer of Bristol, VA, and Pansie Bellamy of Kingsport, TN; six grandchildren, Matthew Eades, Colin Eades and his wife, Megan, Devin and Jacob Statzer, Derek Johnson and his wife Laura, and Adrinanna Statzer; one step grandchild, Blake Eades and his wife Amber; and one great grandchild, Savana Johnson.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 8:00 PM at Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, Virginia 24210 with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Virginia 24210.
