Hettie Mae McClure

Hettie Mae McClure, 91, of Abingdon, formerly of Chilhowie, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN.
She was born January 6, 1921 to William Henry Lester and Sarah Loma Crigger Lester. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Millard McClure, granddaughter, Whitney McClure Cooper, daughter-in-law, Nancy Jane Brown McClure. Also preceding her in passing are sisters, Elsie Layne, Myrtle Thomas, and Freda Comfort; and brothers, Roy Lester and Russell Lester.
Survivors include her children; daughters, Loretta and James W. Cooper of Bristol, VA and Betsy and Roy O. Rash of Las Vegas, NV; sons, Edwin G. and Lee McClure of Bristol, VA, James E. McClure of Chevy Chase, MD, Larry A. and Ginny McClure of Abingdon, VA, Teddy D. McClure of Chilhowie, Jerry W. and Sue McClure of Abingdon, Michael W. McClure of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Gerald D. McClure of Windsor, CO; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and three step great grandchildren.
Survivors also include her sisters, Gladys Davis of Grundy, VA, Shirley Rich of Whitwell, TN, Nancy Shortt of Vansant, VA, Linda Jernigan and Brenda Martinez both of Jacksonville, NC; brothers, Clarence Lester of Abingdon, Carlis Lester of Petros, TN, and Willard H. "Zeke" Lester of Chilhowie; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Jerry Eggers and her grandson, Eric W. McClure officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Chilhowie. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be special friend, Dr. Emory Robinette.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210.
