Irene Campbell Odum
August 22, 1931 — December 8, 2012
Irene "NaNa" Campbell Odum, 81, went peacefully to be with the Lord and to have a joyous reunion with her husband, James Edward Odum, and her parents, Robert Lee and Mary Annie Campbell on Saturday, December 8, 2012.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Sylvia.
Irene was born on August 22, 1931 in Abingdon. She worked at Harwood for over forty years and at Designing Interiors for sixteen years.
Irene is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Leroy Lowe; grandchildren, David "Roho" Lowe and his wife, Kim of Birmingham, AL, Amy L. Lawson of Abingdon, and Ashley L. Hembree and husband, Drew of Abingdon; great-granddaughters, Ali Lowe, Abby Lawson, Amanda Lowe and Addison Hembree; one sister, Sue Oliver and husband, D.D. Oliver of Abingdon; two brothers, W.J. Campbell and his wife, Marieda Campbell of Abingdon and Curt Campbell and wife, Jackie of Wytheville, VA; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Stella Blackwell, Donna Campbell, and Sue Oliver who lovingly helped care for "NaNa" this last year. Also, a thanks goes to Hospice and Pallative Care of Virginia, especially Mary, Pam, and Kristi.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. David Lowe, Dr. Austin Cook and Dr. Bob Neace officiating. The entombment service will be held at Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mark Barrett, Dennis Blaylock, Dwight Crane, Drew Hembree, Lee Hines, David Lowe, and Rick Oliver.
Honorary pallbearers will be Timmy Arnold, Kevin Campbell, James "Crow" Clark, Jay Clark, Chris Oliver and Brian Odum.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Farris Funeral Service.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Hospice and Pallative Care of Virginia, 211 W. Main Street, Abingdon, VA 24210.
