Jackie Lee Cowan, 42, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born in Buchanan County, VA, lived there for 30 years before moving to Damascus, VA. Jackie graduated from Hurley High School in 1986, Southwest Virginia Truck School with a certification in diesel, and Tri-City Trade School with a certification in construction. He was a coal truck driver, certified mechanic, carpenter and construction worker.

Jackie's mission in life was to take care of his boys and wife. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Douglas Cowan and Bessie Blankenship Cowan, and his maternal grandparents Roy and May Bell Estep.

He is survived by his parents, James Douglas Cowan and Mary Lou "Madge" Cowan; his wife of 20 years, Cindy Looney Cowan, Damascus and two sons, Matthew Charles Cowan, Damascus and Joshua Lee Cowan, Lackland AFB, TX; and many special uncles, aunts, and cousins..

A song service will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Dave Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until the time of the service.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 11:00 am at Farris Funeral Chapel with interment services to follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Chris Canter, James Douglas Cowan, Josh Cowan, Matthew Charles Cowan, Travis Cruey, Chris Estep, Bobby Miller, Terry Reabis and Zack Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald, Jackie, and Edd Estep, Eddie Ray Matney, Jimmy Moody and David Phillips
