Jackie Onlee King Henley

Jackie Onlee King Henley passed away on January 23, 2011. She was born on June 10, 1934 in Benham , KY to N.B. and Martha Ellen Jenkins King. She graduated from Whitesburg High School and attended Lincoln Memorial University . While in college, she participated in the choir and was a cheerleader. On August 13, 1955, she married Dr. William Rogers Henley of Appalachia, VA.
The couple lived in Lebanon , VA for over thirty years. While there, Jackie attended Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church and was a past president of the Lebanon Women's Club. She was a member of the choir and women's circle. Upon moving to Abingdon , VA , she attended Abingdon United Methodist Church and again participated in the women's circle.
She is survived by her husband Dr. William R. Henley and her children, Kimberly King Henley Miller and husband Nathan of Bridgewater, VA; Phillip Newland Henley and wife Lisa of Lebanon, VA; Ellen Rogers Henley Barrs and husband Stan of Abingdon, VA; and William Todd Henley and wife Robin of Abingdon, VA.
In addition, survivors include ten grandchildren: Nathan, Andrew, Amanda and Caroline Miller; Abby and Olivia Henley; Graysen and Tanner Barrs; and Will and Cate Henley; and a very special sister, Blanche Whitson of Dandridge , TN.
Pallbearers will be Todd Henley, Dr. Marty Whitson, Dean "Corky" Smith, Mark Smith, Lee Scott Horne, John Jessee and A.G. Griffith, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Miller II, Andrew Miller, Tanner Barrs, Will Henley, Emory Wright, J.S. Easterly, Jr., Bill Cross, Dr. Joe Adair, Clyde Yates, Bill McFarlane, Ron Barrett and Fred Stanley. The family would like to thank the caregivers, neighbors, Winterham Ladies Association and special friend Joan Stanley for all of their love and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Lebanon Memorial United Methodist Church , Abingdon United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association,

Services for Jackie Henley will be conducted Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Abingdon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Walter Weikel officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am Wednesday until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon.
