James Edward Bellamy

Abingdon, VA James Edward Bellamy, age 78 and life-long resident of Washington County, VA, passed away on August 17, 2015, in Johnston Memorial Hospital after complications with dementia. He was born October 18, 1936 to the late Carl Franklin Bellamy and Mary Ryburn Bellamy. James was a graduate of Meadowview High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and retired from the Columbus-McKinnon Corp. after 39 years of employment. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nannie McCracken Bellamy, and an infant brother. James is survived by his brother, Fred Bellamy and wife Vivian; brothers-in-law, Bob McCracken and wife Pattie, and John McCracken and wife Janice; and two sisters-in-law, Pauline Staples and Pansy Whitman. Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Ronnie Blevins and Pastor Darrell Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Baptist Cemetery with Keith Trivett, Tim Boothe, Troy Hinchey, and Mike Crenshaw serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be George Hockett, Danny Ray Gregory, John Yeatts, Joy Hayter, and the men of Trinity Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. View Baptist Cemetery, 27004 Shortsville Road, Abingdon, VA 24210, in Mr. Bellamy’s name.
