James Farley Tweed, 84, passed and received his freedom on July 4, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Tweed was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in Germany after the end of WWII. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Community Church and sang in the Faith Quartet. Jim worked at Abingdon Dodge for many years and retired from Crabtree Buick. Mr. Tweed was a devoted husband and father and is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Josephine Payne Tweed, brothers, Arley and Carl Tweed, and sisters, Helen Hearl and Nellie Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Leo Tignor Tweed; two sons, Fredrick Thomas (Kimberly) Tweed of Bristol, VA and James Farley (Mandy) Tweed, Jr. of Bristol, VA; two daughters, Brenda Gay Tweed of Bristol, VA and Judy Marie Tweed and fiance Reece Hill of Bristol, VA; one sister, Bertha Ketchum of Abingdon, VA; eight grandchildren, Jake Hall, ReAnna Skeens, Amanda Osborne, Waylon Bowers, Will Bowers, Jeremiah Balthazr, Tiffany Honaker and Ebony Clark; six great-grandchildren, Tricen Osborne, Nevaeh Osborne, Taraney Singleton, JaMayia Honaker, Kalel Honaker and Zion Brookwell; special caregivers, Jessica Lester and Deanna Conly.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Frankie Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Robert "Bob" Eades, Arley "Junior" Tweed, Jake Hall, Reece Hill, Patrick Daugherty and Bud Wright serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be James "Jim" Eades, Eugene "Doc" Hearl, Raymond Wise, Billy Nunley, Phillip Hearl, Bundy Musick and Charles Meade. Military Rites will be conducted by Lebanon V.F.W. Post 9864.

Visitation with the family will be held from 12-2 P.M. Saturday just prior to the service at the Forest Hills Chapel.
