Mr. James Orvell Hash, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Monday February 10, 2014. Mr. Hash was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle in Meadowview, VA. He was a three year U.S. Army Veteran and fought in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hash was a member and Past Commander of the Damascus VFW Post 9830, and was a member of the Damascus American Legion.
Mr. Hash is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Mary Abbie (McAfee) Hash. Survivors also include his son, Ronald Hash and wife Fay of Palm Bay, FL; 2 sisters Bernice Barr of Green Cove, VA and Louise Bronson and husband Carl of McClure, KS; 1 brother, Conley Hash and wife Linda of Annandale, VA; step grandson John Devenny of Knoxville, TN and cherished child, Mary-Kate Cullop of Green Cove, VA, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Hash was a man of faith who loved his family, his church, his friends and community. He also loved to fish. Local folks were used to seeing his teal green pickup truck parked near the best fishing holes.
A funeral service from Mr. James Orvell Hash will be conducted on Friday February 14, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Farris Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Robbins officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 pm, following the service, in the Green Cove Baptist Church Cemetery; Green Cove, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm 8:00 pm on Thursday February 13, 2014 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
