James Price Groseclose

James Price Groseclose, age 67, passed on Friday, November 2, 2012 after a three and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer. Mr. Groseclose was born August 3, 1945 in Roanoke, VA and moved to Abingdon in 1971. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Andrew Muncy Groseclose and Mary Katherine Mclaughlin Groseclose, sister, Catherine Groseclose Hall, and brother, Andrew Muncy Groseclose, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jill LaRue Groseclose; daughter, Jane Ann Groseclose of Abingdon, VA; mother-in-law and father-in-law, William and Jane LaRue of Abingdon, VA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and George Knight of Abingdon, VA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Jon Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all of the good neighbors on Celebrity Lane.
Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mr. Groseclose's name.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the Johnston Memorial Hospital Cancer Center for the care they have gave Mr. Groseclose over the past few years.
