Janet Kaye Hamilton Runyon McKinney, age 59, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at her home. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.
Janet was a "larger than life" figure, living life as if having an endless capacity for love, caring, tolerance and forgiveness. She touched lives in ways not always understood or known by others. Never critical, she could see value and possibility where others could not. She was loved and will be missed for all that and so much more.
She was born to the late Jessee Ernest Hamilton and Helen Reedy Hamilton on October 25, 1952 in Dickenson County, Virginia. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel McKinney.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Runyon of Bristol, Virginia; three sisters, Evelyn Hamilton Hoke and husband William "Bill" Hoke, Deborah Hamilton Saltz and husband Richard Saltz, Karen Hamilton and significant other Greg Smith; four brothers, Larry Hamilton and wife Libby Hamilton, Carl Hamilton and wife Sherry Hamilton, Mark Hamilton, and Chad Hamilton all of Abingdon and the Washington County area; granddaughter, Rayne Runyon; three nieces; and four nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 P.M., Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Larry D. Lusk officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Washington County Virginia C. C. Porter Animal Shelter, 27252 Porter Lane, Abingdon, Virginia 24211.
