Jeffery Allen Owens, age 15, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013. He was an incoming sophomore at Abingdon High School who loved playing baseball, working on his truck, watching wrestling on TV, playing his Xbox, and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carl Owens and Carrie Owens; two uncles, Garland Owens and David Widner; and aunt, Patricia Arnold.
He is survived by his loving parents, Cecil Carl Owens and Cynthia Hope Davenport; two brothers, Christopher Orion Bias of Welch, WV and David Ray Odum and wife Kristy of Marion, VA; two sisters, Carrie Omega Jeno and husband Eric of MO and Melanie Nicole Hess and husband Dalton of Marion, VA; maternal grandparents, James Terry and Rita Terry; five uncles, James Owens and wife Louise of Damascus, VA, Robert Owens and wife Phyllis of Chilhowie, VA, Ed Moorefield and wife Mae of Damascus, VA, Travis Terry of Radford, VA, and Joe Terry and wife Tracey of Chilhowie, VA; aunt, Wanda Tuggle of Chilhowie, VA; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the funeral home. Following the funeral service family and friends will travel in procession to Mt. Rose Cemetery where Christopher Orion Bias, Joey Moorefield, David Ray Odum, Chase Taylor, Joe Terry, and Travis Terry will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Burke, Shane Griffin, Matt Mullins, Cody Mutter, and Charles Terry.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defer the cost of final expenses.
