Jennie Ann Skrobacz Santonastaso

Jennie Ann Skrobacz Santonastaso, age 88, passed on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, VA. Mrs. Santonastaso was born and lived most of her life in New Jersey before moving to Abingdon area 10 years ago in order to be near her grandchildren. She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church and the Abingdon Newcomers. Jennie loved to make hand woven wool rugs, cross stitch, repair furniture, and re-cane chairs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Frances Skrobacz; husband of 49 years, John Michael Santonastaso; daughter, Joan Carol Santonastaso; sister, Stella Westby Gibson and brother, Edwin Skrobacz.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Connie (Eric) Knapp of Bristol, VA and Linda (Mark) Painter of Galax, VA; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Dale (Beth) Painter and Cassandra Mae Painter; and one great-grandson, Carson Ray Painter.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Christ The King Catholic Church with Father Paul J. Maier officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00-2:00 P.M. just prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southwest Virginia in Mrs. Santonastaso's name.
