Jerry A. Brown, 68, walked gleefully into Heaven on February 6, 2011, at the Wellmont Hospice House after a long illness.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Nancy; two sons: Jerry Alan Brown II and wife Diane, and Chad J. Chalfont and wife Chrissi; and by his grandson, Austin Matthew Brown, who was the apple of his eye.
Jerry was employed by Bristol Virginia Utilities as Director of Economic Development. He appreciated the kindness extended to him by his friends there during his illness, with a special thanks to Wes Rosenbalm and Linda Davis.
We have been so blessed to have such wonderful neighbors who attended to our every need. We especially thank our cherished friends Roger and Mary Garrett for the love and support they so willingly bestowed on us. Jerry was so humbled by the many hours they spent helping us during the difficult times.
A celebration of Jerry's life will take place at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at Pleasant View United Methodist Church, 18416 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Virginia. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View United Methodist Church or to Wellmont Hospice, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
