Jessie Mae Steele

Jessie Mae Steele, age 87, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Valley Healthcare. She was a native of Washington County, VA, but had lived in Russell County for 45 years. She returned to Washington County in 1980. Jessie loved gardening; however, the apple of her eye was her granddaughter Crystal.
Jessie was predeceased by her parents Ira and Aldie Taylor, and her husband of 42 years William Birdest Steele. She is survived by her daughter Connie Ellen Everhart and husband Randy of Chilhowie; brothers Hie F. Taylor and Fount Taylor both of Saltville, and Ira Taylor of Meadowview; sisters Birdie Caudell of North Carolina, Opal Coe and Laura Boardwine both of Saltville; and granddaughter Crystal Ann Everhart.
A cryptside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 26, 2017, at Greenhills Cemetery, Cedar Bluff, VA. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at least 15 minutes prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice.
