Joe Rhea Byington, 71 passed away in the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN of Thursday, February 10, 2011.
Joe graduated from Wallace High School and attended Emory and Henry College. He was the plant manager at Necessary Oil Company at the time of his death. He was a member of Wyndale United Methodist Church. He was a kind and gentle man who deeply loved his family.
He was preceded in death by two infant children, Melissa Kay and Timothy Joe; parents, E.L. and Leta Byington; brothers, Elvin Byington and Frank Byington; brother-in-law, Charles Kestner and sister-in-law, Diane Wilson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sandra Byington; brothers, E.L. Byington and wife, Ruth and Wayne Byington and wife, Mildred; sisters-in-law, Lorene Byington and Norma Kestner and several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 13, 2011 in the Mt. View Cemetery Mausoleum in Bristol, VA with Rev. Jackie Strickler and Rev. Amy Bartee officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the mausoleum. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 P.M. Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Byington, Mark Kestner, Mark Byington, Kevin Byington, Chris Byington and Joel Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Employees of Necessary Oil Co., Gene Andis, Tim Strickler, Harold Rhea and Berry Cooke.
