John Andrew Bishop, II "Andy", 34, of Glade Spring, VA passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2012.
An active member of Chilhowie Baptist Church, Andy was a life-long resident of Washington County, VA where he enjoyed farming with his father. He was employed by Washington County School System as a mechanic and enjoyed working with numerous teens as a foster parent.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jones Bishop; and grandfathers, John A. Bishop, Sr. and Kenneth Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Martin Bishop; his daughter and light of his life, Sydney Madison Bishop; his father, John M. Bishop and fianc�©e, Lynn Wright; grandmothers, Bela Bishop and Louella Jones all of Glade Spring; sister, Johnna Bishop Maney and husband, Brent of Sandston, VA. Also surviving are special children in his life, David Tester, John Straw, Cody Mann, Amanda Worley and Scott Teaster in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Chilhowie Baptist Church with Pastor Chuck Herrell, Pastor Tim Blevins and Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Interment will follow in Rush Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kris McCrady, Jason Campbell, Matt Barr, Ryan Cole, Matthew Lewis, David Tester, and John Straw. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Mann, Scott Teaster and Drew Porter.
The family will receive friends at Chilhowie Baptist Church from 4:00 until 9:00 P.M. Saturday, February 4, 2012.
