John R. Flournoy, Jr.

Abingdon, VA Mr. John R. “Buddy” Flournoy, Jr., age 65, passed away on August 28, 2014 in Pulaski, VA. He had retired from the grocery business after 35 years of employment. He served in the U.S. Army and was a decorated war hero. John will always be remembered as a hard worker who loved to make people laugh. He was preceded in death by his parents John, Sr. and Lucille Flournoy; his first wife and mother of his children, Nancy S. Flournoy; and sister Janet Goad. He is survived by his wife Polly Flournoy; sons Steven (Janey) Flournoy and David (Dana) Flournoy; daughter Jennifer (Enkhe) Gombo; brother Michael (Joy) Flournoy; and fifteen grandchildren. A funeral service for Mr. John R. “Buddy” Flournoy will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday September 5, 2014 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Dr. Bob Neace officiating.
