John William Mitchell

Mr. John William Mitchell, age 80 of Stuart, Va passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at his home. He was born in Abingdon on February 15, 1935 to the late Wyndom and Margie Cumbo Mitchell.In addition to his parents, Mr.Mitchell was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters. He was retired from General Motors and Rural Services. He was a traveling Preacher and attended Church of Jesus in Abingdon and Faith, Hope, Love Church in Stuart. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Temple Mitchell of Stuart; one son, Thomas Mitchell of Stuart; five daughters, Evelyn Mitchell of Meadows of Dan, Rose Mitchell of Stuart, Eileen Mitchell of Maryland, Martha Mitchell of Stuart and Ruthie Mitchell of Maryland; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; on brother, J.D. Mitchell of Abingdon; and one sister, Martha Mitchell of Saltville also survive.The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral service with Bro. Paul White officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. The commital service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2015 in Fall Hill Cemetery.
