Joseph Walter Able, age 82, passed away on August 21, 2013 at his home.
He was born to the late William Redwin Able and Cora Dona Nickles Able on July 16, 1931. In addition to his parents, Joe is also preceded in death by his wife, Jimmy Carol Heath Able; four brothers, George Able, James Able, Ed Able, and Harry Able; and sister, Laura Francis Wagner.
He is survived by three daughters: Debra Sue Murray and husband Junior of Cleveland, VA; Lisa Ann Ball and husband Roger of Abingdon, VA; and Betty Joe Lloyd and husband David of Abingdon, VA; six grandchildren, Valerie Murray, Daniel Murray and wife Emily, Brittney Ball, Sabrina Ball, Bear Lloyd, and Michaela Lloyd; great-granddaughter, Hallie Murray; brother, Jack Able of Abingdon, VA; three sisters, Beulah Cashion and Irene Wood, both of Stoney Point, NC, and Beatrice Kestner of Lynchburg, VA.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2013 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Reverend Sherrill Dunn officiating. Pallbearers will be John Able, Adam Hargrove, Jackie Hargrove, Buddy Holloway, Bear Lloyd, and David Lloyd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 246, Abingdon, VA 24212.
