Juanita Lynn McBride

Juanita Lynn McBride, 71, passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 at Bristol Regional Hospital.
She was born May 22, 1947 in Pennsylvania to the late James Arthur Bryant and the late Ida Mae Boyd Bryant. After retiring from the Washington County school system as librarian of Abingdon High School, Juanita traveled all across the United States and parts of Canada. She was an active member of Abingdon Bible Church until the diagnosis of leukemia.
Juanita enjoyed many things including going to the beauty shop on a weekly basis, visiting with friends, participating in a Bible study group, and knitting and crocheting items for family and friends. One of her greatest enjoyments was being part of the Abingdon High School Band Boosters a.k.a “Band Mom”. The other enjoyment Juanita had was spending time with her granddaughter, Sarah.
A special thanks to Joan Worley who introduced Juanita to two wonderful caregivers, Brandon and Tracy, who helped Juanita and her family through the difficult final days.
Besides her parents Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Ward “Butch” McBride; and two brothers, Lee Bryant and Brooks Bryant.
Juanita is survived by her son, Shane Bryant McBride and his wife Rebekah of Abingdon; granddaughter, Sarah Elisabeth McBride of Abingdon; and special family friends, R.C. Miller of Abingdon and Gary, Janet, and Elisabeth Todd of Meadowview.
The funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Abingdon Bible Church, 16210 Elementary Drive, Abingdon, with Pastor Paul Bufford officiating. Burial will follow at Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shawn Miller, Josh Ball, Brandon Fleenor, Paul Taylor, Jason Holzer, and Johnny Remine. The family will receive friends at Abingdon Bible Church on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 5-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Washington County Virginia Schools, “No Child Left Unfed”, 812 Thompson Drive, Abingdon, Virginia 24210.
