Katherine Boyd Munsey VanHorn, age 82, passed on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from ETSU and a Master's Degree from the University of Virginia. Katherine taught in the Russell County, Virginia school system for 34 years and had a lifetime membership in VEA and NEA. She was a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church,
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Albert Munsey and Willie E. Tate Munsey; husband, Charles "Van" VanHorn; five brothers and one sister. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. VanHorn's request, no services will be held.
