Kimberly Monroe Barfield

Kimberly Monroe Barfield, age 47, peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord at home in Bristol on Thursday, April 11, 2013. Kimberly was born on March 28, 1966 in Tuscaloosa, AL to Mary Lee and the late Don Monroe.
She is survived by her loving husband, James (Jay) Barfield, and their six children, Mary Katherine, Marshall, Rebekah, Leeanna, Benjamin, and Daniel. Also surviving are her mother, Mary Lee Monroe of Birmingham, AL, her brother, Scott Monroe and his wife Linda of Auburn, AL, and her grandmother, Marteene Hill of Birmingham, AL.
She graduated from W.A. Berry High School in 1984, and from Samford University of Birmingham in 1988 with a Bachelor's Degree of Nursing. She served as a pediatric nurse at Children's Hospital in Birmingham and at a pediatric clinic prior to motherhood.
She joyfully lived and served our Lord as a faithful Christian, devoted wife, and loving mother, dedicating her energies to the nurturing and education of her children. She was a member of Saint Peter Presbyterian Church in Bristol, VA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 15, 2013, at Central Presbyterian Church, 301 Euclid Ave., Bristol, VA, with Rev. Laurence Windham and Rev. Steve Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with John Vernot, Kevin McCroskey, Don Kiser, Erik Rolf, Gary Boyd, and Scott Missildine serving as pallbearers.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 P.M. Sunday at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210.
