Larry Allen Thomas

Bristol, VA Larry Allen Thomas, age 76, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 23, 2014. He was born the eldest son of Roy Elmer Thomas and Mary Kathleen Johnston Thomas in Wise County, VA on May 4, 1938. Larry was stationed in Germany while serving his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from Nabisco as a sales manager where he had worked in sales for over 30 years. Following retirement, Larry managed H & R Block in Abingdon, VA for 11 years. He was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church and was a Past Master Mason belonging to York Lodge No. 12 in Bristol, VA. He was an avid golfer having formerly belonged to Glenrochie Country Club and Clear Creek Golf Club. Larry was preceded in death by his father. In addition to his mother, Larry is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jeanne Lovins Thomas; two sons, Allen Thomas and partner Gary French of New Orleans, LA and Aaron Thomas and wife Stephanie of Fayetteville, AR; daughter, Angela Guyton and husband Jeff of Ottawa Lake, MI; brother, Glenn Thomas and wife Georgie of Bristol, VA; five grandchildren, Seth and Shanna Alley, Antonio Thomas, and twins, Luciana and Martina Thomas; step-granddaughter, Nicole Moser; and two nieces, Connie Barrett and husband Mark and Hope Farmer and husband Kevin. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Pleasant View United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at the church at 2:00 p.m. Monday with Dr. Ralph Kidd officiating. Entombment will occur at a later date at Mt. View Cemetery in Bristol, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1020 Carrington Place, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
