Larry Junior Sparks

Larry Junior Sparks, age 68, of Bristol, Tn., went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 24, 2017, at his home. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in vietnam, former coal miner, and was a member of Painter Creek Church of Christ in Abingdon. Larry was a special person to a lot of family and friends and will be remembered as a man who loved the Lord. Larry served the Lord for many years in the Grundy Church of Christ, Grundy, Va. He enjoyed playing his guitar and playing golf. Larry was proud to be a native of Buchanan County, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Bertie Sparks; and sister, Loma Matney; brothers-in-law, Ervin, James, and Ray.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 46 years, Lois Stiltner Sparks; daughter, Laura Murphy and husband Zack of Pulaski, Va.; granddaughter, Kristina Murphy; two sisters, Judy Stiltner and husband Danny and Rosemary Wood and husband Charlie; in-laws, Mabel, Christine, Virgina, Martha, Shirley, Mary, Carolyn, Kermit, William, Johnny, Daniel, Ronnie, and Dennis Stiltner.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in the Painter Creek Church of Christ. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017, in the Painter Creek Church of Christ, 24579 Green Spring Road, Abingdon, Va. 24211 with Minister Mark Gaminde officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Home National Cemetery, 53 Memorial Drive, Mountain Home, Tenn. 37684 with military honors conducted by Boone Dam V.F.W. Honor Guard. All those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 2:20 p.m. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Lynn Blevins. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Painter Creek Church of Christ.
