Larry Melvin Addair, Sr., age 65, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at his home. He was employed as a coal miner for 37 years at U.S. Steel in Gary, WV. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willard Melvin Addair and Para Lee Hughes Addair; brother, Bernard Lee Addair; and sister, Connie Brooks.
He is survived by his son, Larry Melvin Addair, Jr. of the home; two daughters, Tina Rena Addair of the home, and Donna Jo Tackett and husband Robert of St. Paul, VA; three sisters, Linda Tignor and husband Junior of Meadowview, VA, Judith Burke of Meadowview, VA, and Brenda Robbins of Glade Spring, VA; brother-in-law, Hobart Brooks of Abingdon, VA; three grandchildren, Ceaira Wood, Kristine Wood, and Ireland Addair; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to their father's companion, Lorene Blevins, for her excellent care.
Visitation with the Addair family will be from 11:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Reverend Rick Sturgill officiating. Entombment will follow in the Serenity Garden Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Jimmy Addair, Jerry Farmer, David Hamilton, Ronnie Hamilton, Jimmy Overstreet, and Keith Potter will serve as pallbearers. Bruce Blevins will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
