Lewis Jefferson "Jeff" Blackwell, 57, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Johnston Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Jeff was born July 2, 1955 in Saltville, VA the son of Mack and Patty Blackwell. He was a graduate of Abingdon High School, The University of Georgia and The University of Georgia School of Pharmacy. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mack and Bess Blackwell, Sr., maternal grandparents, L. Summers and Virginia Preston, and father, Mack Blackwell, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Glover; mother, Patty Blackwell; son, Josh Blackwell; daughters, Jessica (Dave) Domelle and Courtney Blackwell; step-son, SSG John (Melissa) Minarik, II; step-daughter, Ann-Ruffin Minarik; sister, Lynn (Dave) Williamson; five grandchildren; niece, Ashley Williamson.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Sherry Boles officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 P.M. Saturday just prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. Those wishing to express sympathy online may do so by visiting www.farrisfuneralservice.com and signing the online guest register.
