Lois Leana Gillespie

Lois Leana Gillespie passed away 9/15/2012 at Grace Healthcare of Abingdon.
Born July 16th, 1940 in Annville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of George W. Davidson, Jr. and Verna Parrett Davidson who preceded her in death.
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Dr. Robert L. Gillespie; and two sons, Barry Lee Gillespie and wife Janice; Stephen James Gillespie and wife Carol; three grandchildren, Andrew, Reece, and Kaylee; two Aunts, Margie Green and Jean Bicknell; and several first cousins.
Lois was a member of Green Spring Presbyterian Church and before retirement, a 42 year member of Buchanan First Presbyterian Church in Grundy, Virginia where she served as pianist and organist. She had played the piano for church since she was 12 years old. In addition to being an accomplished musician and cook, Lois was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend to many and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
According to her wishes, Lois was cremated.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Green Spring Presbyterian Church, 22007 Green Spring Church Road, Abingdon, Virginia 24211; and Buchanan First Presbyterian Church, 21223 Riverside Drive (P. O. Box 1339), Grundy Virginia, 24614.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 22nd at Green Spring Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by the memorial service at 2:00 PM conducted by Reverend Jon Martin.
