Lucille Blevins Roland, 86, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at her home.
She was born in Smyth Co. VA to the late Luther and Charity Brooks Blevins and had lived most of her life in Smyth and Washington Counties, except for a 15 year period when she lived in Florida. She loved yard sales, collecting dolls, working in her yard and taking care of flowers. She was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, George Roland; two brothers Virgil and Jim Blevins; and a sister, Rhoda Marion.
She is survived by her two sons, Sonny Roland and wife, Lou of Bristol, VA and Steve Roland of Bristol, TN; two daughters, Margaret Roland Walton of Bristol, TN and Donna Roland Hopkins and husband, Alex of Demorest, GA; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are three brothers, J.D and Herbert Blevins of Texas and Larry Blevins of Durham, NC; two sisters, Sadie Drake of Texas and Zella Dove of Stanton, VA.
The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the staff of In Home Care Services and Hospice of Bristol, TN for their compassionate care
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 207 North Boone St., Suite 1050, Johnson City, TN 37604.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 11, 2010 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Committal services will follow at Glenwood Cemetery Mausoleum in Bristol, TN. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers
The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 10, 2010
