Lucille Cunningham McCroskey, 96, a lifelong resident of Washington County, Virginia, passed away Friday, February 12, 2010 in Johnston Memorial Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Arthur C. and Ida Hutton Cunningham and the widow of the late Clyde William McCroskey. She was a retiree of Johnston Memorial Hospital and had been a member of Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church of the Valley View Community.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Douglas Orfield and Bob Stewart; three brothers, Henry Cunningham, Ray Cunningham and Warren Cunningham; and three sisters, Ruth Walker, Rita Miller and Nell Payne.

Survivors are daughters, Geraldine Stone and husband, Curtis; Peggy Orfield and Barbara Stewart; her son, Ronald McCroskey and wife, Charlotte; grandsons, Howard Orfield, Mike Stone and wife, Beth, Jimmy Stewart and wife, Angela and Brad McCroskey; great-grandson, Curt Stone; two sisters, Flora Bott and Ollie Fraley; one brother, James Cunningham and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and all of Mrs. McCroskey's friends at Greendale Nursing Home for all their love and care.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Entombment will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Tommy McCroskey, Jimmy Fraley, Don Bott, Paul Worley, Stuart Ward, Johnny Payne, Miley Walker and Rick Miller.

The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Sunday.
