M. Gladys Hockett

July 8, 1921 — May 15, 2012

M. Gladys Hockett, age 90, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 after an extended illness. Gladys was a faithful Christian and a member of High Point Baptist Church in Meadowview where she attended faithfully until her health began to fail.

She was born on July 8, 1921, and lived in Meadowview all her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and her husband, William T. Hockett.

She is survived by one son, William "Billy" Hockett and wife Karen of Meadowview; three daughters, Betty Hockett Copenhaver and husband Roger of Meadowview, Rachel Hockett Johnson and husband Norman of Chilhowie, and Carol Hockett Jones of Meadowview and fianc�© Michael Burke of Castlewood; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012 at High Point Baptist Church, 18255 Limestone Dr, Meadowview, VA 24361, with Rev. Robby Coggins and Rev. David Critcher officiating. Interment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service and from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the church. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brian Hockett and Greg Johnson; and grandsons-in-law, P-Nut Hopkins, Keith Bazyk, Trevor Critcher, Kirk Roark, Steve Fulton, and Dale Surber. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters Lisa Hopkins, Crystal Bazyk, Gail Critcher, Teresa Roark, Amy Fulton, and Michelle Surber. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to High Point Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 31495 Blue Springs Road, Meadowview, Virginia 24361.

A special "thank you" is extended to granddaughters Lisa Hopkins and Michelle Surber who helped with her care weekly at the home. We would also like to thank the staff at Valley Health Care who helped in her last few weeks.
