Pastor Mahlon Hobart Wyatt, age 90, a beloved and well known minister, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Mr. Wyatt was the former pastor of several churches including Little Rock Baptist in Glade Spring, VA and South Chapel in Harr, TN. He was a member of High Point Baptist Church. Pastor Wyatt was a friend to everyone he met and devoted his whole life to helping others. Mr. Wyatt loved to fish and spend time gardening whenever he was able.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hobart McKinley Wyatt and Hester Lillian Moore Wyatt; granddaughter, Jessica Wyatt; brothers, Frank, Bill, and Bob Wyatt; and sisters, Catherine Hart and Ida Wyatt.

He is survived by the love of his life of 71 years, Wilma Oliver Wyatt; two sons, Jim Wyatt and wife Joyce of Rock Hill, SC and Fred Wyatt and wife Betty of Bristol, VA; one sister, Eula Burcher of Stuart, VA; four grandchildren, Shauna Sigmon, Summer Howdy, Amanda Nelson, and Emily Wyatt; and eight great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Grace, Caleb, Abraham, and Mabry Sigmon, and Annabelle, Ward, and Sullivan Howdy.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Floyd Nelson, Pastor Robby Coggins, Pastor Matt Sigmon, and Dr. Charles Sherfey officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 2:00-4:30 p.m. Sunday just prior to the service.

A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Damascus, VA with Joe Wyatt, Wesley Wyatt, William Wyatt, Jr., Paul Rouse, Jr., Bob Anderson, Dusty Crawford, and Ted Lester serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the committal are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to High Point Baptist Church, 29198 Blue Springs Road, Meadowview, VA 24361, in Pastor Wyatt's name.
